“Orthodontics is more than just straightening teeth. Well-aligned teeth and properly positioned bite comes with increased chewing efficiency, healthy gums, harmonious facial profile, and increased patient confidence. I love seeing my patients grow and smile with confidence through this process.” – Dr. Hussain
Dr. Syed Rassal Hussain is a Watervliet, NY native. His interest in dentistry and orthodontics stems from his volunteer experiences in Mexico and Zambia, where he learned how untreated malocclusions in underserved populations can contribute to gum disease, cavities, and low self-esteem in patients. “My goal is to educate the local community and provide the highest level of orthodontic care, utilizing the cutting-edge technology and research.”
Dr. Hussain was a biology major at Union College. Upon completion of his bachelor in science degree, he conducted research in an evolutionary biology lab prior to starting his dental education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). While at TUSDM, he was very fortunate to be able to collaborate with some dental materials manufacturing companies, as well as present his work at the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) conferences. The University of Maryland School of Dentistry was his last stop for completing his orthodontics residency before he returned to the capital region with his wife and son. His work as an orthodontic resident was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJODO).
Outside of work, Dr. Hussain loves spending time with his family, reading/learning about diverse cultures, and volunteering for local non-profit causes. Biryani is his favorite food and his wife, Amna, has learned how to make a really good one!
